AMAT at RL Turner High School

The Academy for Media Arts and Technology at RL Turner High School began in 1998, offering high school students in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD an opportunity to “major” in a technology-related subject as they complete their college preparatory academic
course work. Courses are offered in the following strands: Media Arts, Computer Science, Digital Graphic Arts, and Journalism.
The goal of our program is to provide students with an opportunity to explore these areas of technology in depth during high school, giving them a head start on a career. Our labs and
production facilities are state-of-the-art, and our instructors are first rate. Students are exposed to industry professionals through guest speakers, field trips, mentors, and internships.
Students develop advanced skills and participate in service activities throughout the community. Students from AMAT manage the digital video scoreboard at Standridge Stadium for all our schools; they
help schools throughout our district with video projects; and AMAT students help community organizations during the school year.
Students who complete all requirements of the program receive an academy seal on their diploma. Students also wear special regalia at graduation.
